Hi everyone, I am thrilled to inform that books from Lillie and Friends were delivered Friday to the first recipients: a refugee family from Papua New Guinea. A mum and 2 girls received gift wrapped books “with love from Lillie and Friends”. The girls were at school, but Bridget, Red Cross Case Manager, reported that the mother was “very touched”.
In breaking news, thanks to Wendy teeing me up, I have made contact with Cathy of the Central Domestic Violence Service. She is excited about new books for the guests at the women and children’s shelter who often have to up and leave their houses and leave their books behind. The plan here is that about 30 books at a time, for varying ages and interests, will be delivered to the Service. Cathy will contact me when the supply is running low, approximately monthly.
A big thanks to Kath Pigou who has rallied her book loving friends and marshalled forces at Dymocks to come up with the lion’s share of this month’s books. Couldn’t have done it without you Kath J
The generosity of all you Friends is greatly appreciated. From $$ in the account, to the donation of books, to contributing your skills, talents or contacts, it has been fun so far to make Lillie’s Book a reality.
Thank you!
Jill
